Term Assignment: The Rat Lab¶

This is a special homework assignment in which you will take part in a human subject experiment. Human subject experiments are designed to answer some fundamental questions about human perception. Taking part in such an experiment will help you better understand the topics in lectures as well as design your own perceptual experiences for the final project.

The assignment will consist of three parts. We will release them during the term on the main page according to the deadlines from the Course Schedule page.

Part 1: Sign Up, due on 2023-11-30 23:59.

Part 2: Participate and Report, due on 2023-12-23 23:59.

Show up and participate in the experiment at a scheduled time/place and review your experience in a report.

There will be several human subject experiments available during the term and run by researchers at the Center for Ubiquitous Computing. You will be able to pick the one you like, participate in it, and report on your experience back to us.

Grading¶

The following weights will be assigned to each part of the assignment:

Part 1: Sign Up - 2%
Part 2: Participate and Report - 5%

Alternative Assignment¶

If there is a reason why you can't participate in human subject experiments you can look at the alternative assignment. Once you complete it, submit it in the appropriate submission boxes for the Term Assignment.
